VMC Mill Machinist – Level III

Location: Poway, CA Schedule: Second Shift, 2:15 PM–10:45 PM Pay: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience Employment Type: Full-Time

A precision manufacturing company in Poway is seeking an experienced VMC Mill Machinist – Level III to join its second-shift team.

This position is responsible for independently setting up and operating CNC vertical machining centers to produce high-quality precision components.

The ideal candidate will have strong CNC milling, blueprint reading, inspection, G-code, and GD&T experience. Aerospace manufacturing experience is highly preferred.

• Independently set up and operate CNC vertical machining centers.
• Manufacture precision components from metallic materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications.
• Perform tool changes, offsets, machine adjustments, and tool-life management.
• Make minor CNC program and G-code edits as needed.
• Monitor tool wear and make necessary adjustments to maintain part quality.
• Inspect in-process and completed parts using micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Consistently maintain tight tolerances and established quality standards.
• Complete first article inspections and required documentation.
• Perform basic deburring and rework on work-in-process parts.
• Apply basic shop mathematics to machining and inspection processes.
• Recommend improvements to machining processes, quality, and production efficiency.
• Perform routine operator maintenance on assigned equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures.
• Assist with additional manufacturing duties as needed.

• At least three years of CNC/VMC milling experience.
• Ability to independently set up and operate CNC milling machines.
• Experience completing first article inspections and related documentation.
• Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
• Working knowledge of GD&T and G-code.
• Experience making minor CNC program edits.
• Demonstrated ability to hold tight tolerances.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, tool-wear patterns, and tool-life management.
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
• Strong basic shop-math skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently during second shift.
• General knowledge of manufacturing safety and quality systems.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• Aerospace manufacturing experience.
• Experience machining Inconel, titanium, stainless steel, or similar aerospace materials.
• Experience setting up and operating three-axis CNC machines.
• Ability to interpret detailed engineering specifications and complex shop drawings.
