The QA Lead, Receiving Inspection is responsible for leading the day-to‑day activities of the Receiving Inspection team to ensure incoming materials, components, and assemblies meet company, customer, and regulatory requirements. This position provides technical guidance, supports supplier quality initiatives, drives compliance to inspection procedures, and serves as the primary escalation point for nonconforming incoming material.

Requirements Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of Receiving Inspectors.
  • Assign workload and prioritize inspections to support production schedules.
  • Provide training, coaching, and technical guidance to inspectors.
  • Monitor team performance and ensure adherence to quality procedures.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of inspection personnel.
Receiving Inspection Operations
  • Review incoming materials, components, and assemblies against specifications, drawings, purchase orders, and quality requirements.
  • Verify Certificates of Conformance (CofC), test reports, and supplier documentation.
  • Ensure accurate inspection records are maintained in company systems.
  • Coordinate material disposition for accepted, rejected, and suspect material.
  • Support containment activities for quality issues affecting incoming product.
Nonconforming Material Management
  • Identify and document nonconforming material.
  • Initiate and process NCMRs/MRB transactions as required.
  • Coordinate with Supplier Quality, Purchasing, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve material issues.
  • Monitor aging nonconforming material and drive timely disposition.
Process Improvement & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer requirements, and internal procedures.
  • Participate in internal and external audits.
  • Develop and improve receiving inspection processes, work instructions, and training materials.
  • Analyze receiving inspection data and identify opportunities to improve supplier quality and inspection efficiency.
  • Support implementation of quality system improvements and digital tools.
Cross-Functional Support
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Warehouse, and Production teams.
  • Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions related to incoming material issues.
  • Escalate significant quality risks that may impact production, delivery, or customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of leadership or lead experience preferred.
  • Experience with incoming inspection, supplier quality, and nonconforming material processes.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of quality systems and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Experience using ERP/MES systems and quality databases.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Effective communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Supplier Corrective Actions (SCARs).
  • Experience in power electronics, energy storage, or industrial manufacturing environments.
