Teacher, Health Science – Middle School
Location:
Powder Springs, Georgia
Provides quality standards-based instruction in Healthcare Science education; assesses and encourages student progress; manages an effective learning environment to maximize student achievement.
Requirements- Education level:
Associate Degree or higher in a healthcare related field, or a Professional Standards Commission (PSC) determined equivalent with 2 years occupational experience. - Certification/License
Required:
Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in Health Science or eligible for PSC Healthcare Technical Specialist; and hold a current Healthcare Professional License, registration, or certification that relates to the healthcare field and has been issued by an appropriate governing or regulatory body. - Experience:
2 years occupational work experience in a Healthcare related field. - Physical
Activities:
Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities. - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Written and oral communication. - The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.
- Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
- Facilitates/coordinates a rigorous Health Science curriculum with career-related instruction; assesses and provides for differentiation to ensure student progress while managing the learning environment.
- Complies with state and system level regulations and policies; including the rules of the Professional Standards Commission Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Model enthusiasm for Health Science and demonstrate current innovations in the industry, including competition within the global economy.
- Administers developmental testing programs, subject-specific formative/summative assessments, and introductory level skill assessments for the purpose of evaluating student competency and/or the monitoring and development of individual learning growth and progress.
- Sponsors/infuses co-curricular Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) experiences for students in the program for the purpose of leadership development, advanced technical skills attainment, workforce readiness preparation, and college career-readiness studies.
- Manages and maintains program’s assigned equipment, software, and supplies.
- Maintains professional development competence through ongoing educational and professional development training, as required for certification.
- Participate in an active feeder high school Health Science advisory committee.
- Establish and maintain industry connections to promote/encourage student transition to high school related career pathway programs.
- Maintains prompt and professional communication with parents.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
