Are you passionate about teaching, creativity, community engagement, and sharing your skills with others? The City of Powell is seeking enthusiastic and talented individuals to join our team as Part‑Time Recreation Program Instructors. This role is perfect for applicants with diverse backgrounds in arts, fitness, STEM, sports, enrichment, early childhood education, and more, who enjoy teaching and creating meaningful experiences for the community.

Hours

Hours vary based on class schedules and may include:

  • Weekday mornings
  • Daytime and evening classes
  • Weekend programs
  • Occasional special events

Total hours range from 5–20 hours per week
, depending on programming.

Starting Salary

$18.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach engaging, high‑quality recreation classes in your area of expertise (e.g., arts, fitness, STEM, youth enrichment, sports fundamentals, or other specialty programs).
  • Prepare lesson plans, materials, and class activities to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Set up and clean up activity spaces before and after classes.
  • Supervise participants and ensure safety at all times.
  • Communicate class needs, supply requests, and schedule updates to the Parks & Recreation Supervisor.
  • Provide excellent customer service to participants and families.
  • Support departmental programs and events as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching, coaching, leading activities, or instructing recreational programs is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and lead groups with confidence and professionalism.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Possession of a valid Ohio driver’s license and vehicle insurance.
