This position is a vital part of the clinical operations at the OSUWMC Sleep Disorder Center’s Sleep Lab. The Sleep Lab Supervisor works under minimal supervision and is responsible for overseeing daily clinical and technical operations, promoting high-quality patient care, regulatory compliance, and efficient staff management. This role supervises assigned polysomnography technicians, lead technicians, student interns, and assistants, while also performing hands‑on studies and technical procedures as needed.
PositionSummary
The Polysomnography Technician Supervisor manages the day-to-day technical and administrative activities of the Sleep Lab. This individual plays a key role in departmental decision making related to staff and operations. The individual is accountable to deliver established goals, utilize good judgement to assess and escalate situations when warranted, and utilize knowledge and skills in the areas of expertise while maintaining expected quality standards within the services.
Responsibilities include scheduling and supervising sleep studies, ensuring adherence to protocols and quality standards, coordinating staff schedules, facilitating training and onboarding, and providing technical guidance. The supervisor communicates with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, maintains patient and lab records, answers phones and inquiries, performs complex and confidential duties, and assists with supply ordering and equipment maintenance. This role also organizes meetings, prepares agendas and documents, serves as a liaison with staff and vendors, initiates and follows up on correspondence, and coordinates access for staff and students.
Minimum
Required:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 3 years’ experience as a polysomnographic technologist required. One year of demonstrated supervisory experience is preferred. Current Registered Polysomnography Technologist. Current BLS Certification.
