Technical Training & Career Growth VISTA

The Technical Training and Career Growth VISTA will build the capacity of the Center for Training and Development (CTD) and PVCE (Powell Valley Community Education) at Northwest College (NWC) to increase access to effective, relevant workforce training, certifications and professional development programs to NWC students and community workforce with new and relevant skills to secure more stable, higher-paid employment. Program offerings will focus on meeting workforce training needs of vulnerable populations such as 1st generation college graduates, low-income, active military and veterans who may have challenges securing living-wage employment and long-term economic stability.

The VISTA will build sustainable systems and tools to support long-term impact including outreach, workforce assessments, and strategies reducing barriers to employment, that NWC CTD/PVCE staff will implement. NWC is a two-year community college in Powell, WY providing affordable and accessible education. By increasing training opportunities for students and community members to improve their employability, NWC is combating poverty in Powell and poverty in the Big Horn Basin and Wyoming.

The Technical Training and Career Growth VISTA position is one of six VISTA positions in Park County, all contributing to the economic vitality of the area. Member Duties :
The Technical Training and Career Growth VISTA will build sustainable systems and tools to support long-term impact including outreach, workforce assessments, and strategies staff will implement to reduce barriers to employment. Objective 1:
Orientation to the community, local economy NWC- CTD & PVCE Program offerings. Objective 2:
Conduct assessment of workforce ecosystem to identify gaps and barriers to employment opportunities. Objective 3:
Develop sustainable outreach systems to help NWC-CTD staff educate the community on current workforce training opportunities. Objective 4:
Research effective workforce training models that improve employment outcomes of low-income populations. Objective 5:
Design a workforce needs assessment and data collection process. Objective 6:
Create sustainable plan for staff to implement and continuously improve workforce training opportunities and CTD/PVCE Program offerings.
