Job Summary
This part-time non-benefitted temporary position performs policing, safety, and security tasks relative to students, student activities, and buildings, reporting anything unusual or amiss to decision makers. The typical schedule is Saturday – Tuesday evenings during the school year, and the ability to cover other evenings as needed to accommodate vacations.
- Patrols and observes campus grounds daily and during events and activities to identify potential problematic areas and/or situations and to enforce Campus policies; communicates dangerous and/or unusual situations to appropriate personnel.
- Secures campus properties and buildings, which includes locking buildings and doors at appropriate times.
- Represents the College with students, visitors, and/or other applicable parties who are on campus.
- Provides general assistance to individuals as needed.
- Assists residential personnel in enforcing policies.
- Provides escorts to students, faculty, and staff.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Required Training and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licensing Requirements
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
- Must be able to successfully pass criminal background check.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of:
Customer service principles;
Basic campus services;
Applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, policies, and regulations. - Skill in:
Providing customer service;
Mediating hostile situations;
Identifying problematic situations;
Using a computer and related software;
Identifying the possible use of illegal, dangerous substances, unusual activities, and/or other related situations;
Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Physical Requirements
Positions in this class typically require: climbing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and seeing. Medium Work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to dusts, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and travel. May require night/evening, holiday, and weekend work.
