Drum Teacher - Prairie Village, KS

About the Position

Ensemble Schools is looking for a fun, experienced, and professional drum instructor to teach part-time at Music House School of Music in Prairie Village. The role requires in‑person instruction, primarily on Wednesday nights between 3‑9 pm, with ability to lead group classes highly beneficial.

• Teaching private lessons that build on the strengths and interests of each student.
• Leading group classes through the Music House curriculum.
• Attending monthly faculty meetings.
• Assisting with three community events per year (recitals, jam sessions, faculty concerts).
• Communicating with parents, fellow faculty, and administrative staff.
• Tracking student attendance and maintaining detailed teaching notes.
• Signing students up for and preparing them for group and individual performances.
• Creating and/or following lesson plans and teaching guides.

• Bachelor’s degree in music education or performance preferred.
• At least one year of teaching experience; group‑teaching experience a plus.
• Performance experience in individual and ensemble settings.
• Excellent written, spoken, and listening communication skills.
• Organized, detail‑oriented, and able to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency with technology, including computers, mobile devices, internet browsers, and online applications.
• Reliable transportation, punctuality, and ability to pass a routine background check.

Instructor pay is commensurate with experience, ranging from $24 to $28 per hour. A 401(K) program with employer matching is available to all employees after 90 days on the job. Health benefit packages are available for both part‑time and full‑time employees at Ensemble.
