Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at the Pratt Academic Center as a PAC Media Center Specialist/Building Paraprofessional. In this full‑time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational environment by managing the media center, assisting students and staff, and fostering a love for learning. Your passion for education and ability to work collaboratively will help create a dynamic and engaging space for all.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the media center, ensuring a welcoming and organized environment for students and staff.
  • Assist students in locating and utilizing resources, including books and technology to support their academic needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate media resources into lesson plans and support curriculum development.
  • Provide instruction on media literacy, research skills, and responsible technology use to students of varying age groups.
  • Maintain an inventory of media center materials, including books and technology, ensuring they are up‑to‑date and in good condition.
  • Monitor student behavior in the media center, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all users.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and technology.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the administration to support the overall mission of the Pratt Academic Center.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working in an educational setting, particularly in a library or media center, is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proficiency in using technology, including computers, software applications, and digital resources.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and contribute positively to the school environment.
  • Knowledge of current educational practices and trends in media literacy and technology integration.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of Pratt Academic Center.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
