Skills Trainer/Job Coach

Provide support to interns ages 18-21 to facilitate the training and integration of students with disabilities in a worksite rotation and/or competitive work environment. Locations include Project SEARCH at Salina Regional Health Center or Transitions at the Salina Education Center. Start date is August '26.

Requirements include a high school diploma. Experience working with people with disabilities and/or working in the industry/business field is preferred. Other qualifications include enthusiasm, decision making skills, strong oral and written communication skills, productive team member, flexibility, and collaboration skills. Must be professional and organized.

Duties include:

• Provide individualized support for students at the host business worksite rotation or competitive job which includes job coaching, building natural supports, identifying job accommodations, assistive technology, etc.
• Perform specific job analysis, task analysis, and job matching activities.
• Train students in the areas of grooming, hygiene, communication, interviewing, and behavior as they relate to successful employment.
• Communicate with Project SEARCH/TRANSTIONS instructors to make final decisions regarding any issues that may affect student success at a worksite rotation or competitive job site. These decisions may be related to continued job coaching, fading, behavior job tasks, etc.
• Attend training provided by school district personnel to become knowledgeable of strategies and current "best practices" in the field of supported employment.
• Communicate effectively with program instructors, other job coaches, employers, co-workers, family members, school and agency personnel.
• Strong computer skills.
