Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team at Southwest Elementary as a full-time Pre‑K Para. This position is designed for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and is committed to supporting the development and learning of young children. The Pre‑K Para will work closely with teachers and staff to create a nurturing and engaging environment that fosters growth and curiosity in our students.
Responsibilities- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development in Pre‑K students.
- Supervise and engage with students during classroom activities, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.
- Support students with individual needs, including those with special educational requirements, by providing personalized assistance and encouragement.
- Help maintain a clean and organized classroom environment, including preparing materials and resources for lessons.
- Monitor student progress and behavior, providing feedback and support to encourage positive interactions and learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to develop and implement strategies for effective classroom management.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including record‑keeping and documentation of student achievements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; coursework in early childhood education or a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with children.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and demonstrate flexibility in a dynamic classroom environment.
- Basic computer skills for administrative tasks and communication purposes.
- Background check and clearance as required by school district policies.
- CPR and First Aid certification may be required or must be obtained within a specified time frame.
