Job Summary: Performs ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries by performing the following duties. Prepares and positions patients for ultrasound imaging procedures.
Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of a specified area of the body as requested by a physician. Explains procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
Moves imaging equipment into a specified position, adjusts equipment controls to set scanning factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy. Scans appropriately and in an efficient manner to reduce patient wait/discomfort and to produce accurate and high-quality images. Follow the ultrasound scanning protocol. Processes images for reading by a radiologist or requesting physician.
Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on ultrasound equipment, arranging for repairs as needed. Operates mobile ultrasound equipment in the operating room, emergency room, or at the patient’s bedside. Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
Job Qualifications:Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer skills required.
ARDMS/RVT preferred. BLS required.
