Education Section Chief

This position is located in Pratt, Kansas and is supervised by the Deputy Secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks. Applications will close on March 6, 2026.

• Oversees all aspects of the R3 Program.
• Oversees delivery of statewide hunter, boater, wildlife, and fur harvester education programs.
• Supervises three full-time education program coordinators.
• Provides oversight of Milford, Pratt, and Southeast Kansas nature centers, including supervision of the Southeast Kansas Nature Center Director.
• Assists with additional statewide programs including Becoming an Outdoors-Woman, Archery in the Schools, Student Air Rifle Program, Eco Meets, Outdoor Wildlife Learning Sites, advanced hunter education, and outdoor skills events.
• Coordinates shooting range grants, prepares and monitors section budgets, and ensures education delivery and communication methods adapt to changing audience preferences and technology advancements.

• Two years of experience in planning, organizing, and directing the work of a department, program, or agency
• Public speaking and classroom presentation skills
• Strong communication, outdoor recreation, wildlife knowledge, hunting, fishing, and writing skills
• Experience in wildlife conservation, outdoor education, teaching, communication techniques, or a closely related field preferred
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
