Position: 2026-A Cultural Arts Theater Coordinator (9/2026)

The purpose of this position is to develop and implement the artistic vision and provide leadership and direction for the Way Off Broadway Theater. Successful performance in this position contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of leisure services to area residents. FLSA status is Non-Exempt.

PROGRAM & EVENT RESPONSIBILITIES (35%)
  • Plansand develops theater events.
  • Recruits, trains and manages volunteer staff; participates in the selection process.
  • Manages ticket sales.
  • Set up and breakdown at events.
  • Mantainsinternal communications between staff, volunteers, and board of directors.
  • Works with groups within the Creative and Performing Arts Council.
  • Plans, prepares, publicizes, executes and follows-up on theater events.
  • Attends meetings of councils, boards, and committees.
  • Creates a culture that is welcoming, collaborative and productive for volunteers.
  • Engages with the Board of Directors around the theater’s strategic direction, finances, and position within the greater community.
  • Leads and serves as key connector for all facets of the theatre with donors, audience members, civic and community leaders.
  • Oversees auditions and related activities.
  • Keeps current with the play literature.
  • Oversees the scheduling of the calendar year: season productions, auditions, workshops an special events.
MARKETING DUTIES (35%)
  • Promotes events using social media, community calendars, local publications, paid radio and television ads, and live and recorded television interviews.
  • Writes promotional materials and press releases.
  • Writes and schedules daily social media posts for theatre promotion.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES (20%)
  • Answers email, telephone, and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
  • Researches, interprets data, and prepares reports.
OTHER RELATED DUTIES (10%)
  • Assists other departments.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Bachelors' Degree in an Art related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years' experience in public relations, event planning or programming.
  • Two (2) years' of supervisory or volunteer management experience.
  • Familiarity with creative concepts and an appreciation of the arts is preferred.
  • Local working knowledge of area theatres is preferred.
  • Willing to work nights and weekends.

Job candidates must be able to adapt to and perform under moderate stress.

Job duties require regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of department and city policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of promotions and marketing principles.
  • Knowledge of photography, computers, and job-related software programs.

  • Skill in organization and ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
  • Must provide proof of your legal right to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Willing to work overtime.
  • Willing to cooperate with the workload of the department.
  • Willing to comply with City of Prattville rules and regulations.
