Position: A320 Systems Installations Liaison Engineer (MAP)

Systems Installation (ESI / MSI) Liaison / MRB Engineer – Airbus Commercial Aircraft – Mobile, AL

Airbus Commercial Aircraft is seeking an experienced Systems Installation (ESI / MSI) Liaison / MRB Engineer to join our Engineering department. The role focuses on the technical execution, validation, and authorization of solutions for aircraft system installations and addressing non‑conformities during the A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) manufacturing process across all relevant ATA chapters.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the technical resolution of shop floor non‑conformities and concessions originating during FAL production.
  • Create, validate, approve, and monitor design and engineering corrective actions, improvements, and preventive measures to resolve physical installation non‑conformities across the full airframe.
  • Author and authorize technical solutions and justification reports for repairs, rework, or troubleshooting instructions within the ESI and MSI perimeters.
  • Ensure compliance with Aircraft Safety and continuous Airworthiness standards for all MAP engineering activities.
  • Serve as a frontline interface between the Global Design Office, Chief Engineering, Quality Assurance, and local Manufacturing operations to meet strict SLA timelines and Airbus Design Principles.
  • Coordinate transnational engineering efforts to harmonize local operations with global practices.
  • Represent the site and MAP US Engineering perimeter at Airbus forums, center of competency meetings, and multi‑functional team (MFT) troubleshooting blocks.
  • Document lessons learned and update technical solutions in the MSI/ESI repository to improve best practices.
  • Lead or support the presentation of complex repairs and technical explanations to internal and external customers, including flight test departments.
  • Create, approve, and authorize temporary aircraft definitions via special instructions in compliance with aircraft architecture regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive installation engineering support directly to the shop floor during assembly, equipment installation, flight line, and delivery activities.
  • Define work solutions for manufacturing, provide input to design to minimize recurring defects, and promote cross‑program fertilization to optimize product performance.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in aircraft structure (airframe) design engineering support.
  • In-depth knowledge of aircraft electrical, mechanical, and bracket design, installation definition, equipment installation, and full‑airframe structural integration.
  • Strong foundational understanding of airframe repair design and stress principles to provide technical support to the structures team.
  • Masterful command of Airbus Design Principles tailored to systems, electrical, and mechanical installation perimeters, along with internal tools and workflows.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aeronautical‑grade materials, industrial standards, electrical bonding guidelines, and corrosion protection methodologies across the airframe.
  • Solid understanding of Airbus aircraft configuration management rules, the full change request process, and associated tracking tools.
  • Direct proficiency with Airbus non‑conformity tracking systems, concessions, Quality Survey Reports, and Design Query Notes (DQNs).
  • Expert navigation of standard Airbus manuals, including the Structural Repair Manual (SRM), Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM), and Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC).
  • Well‑organized, self‑motivated, and independent worker focused on technical execution, with an improvement mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Flexibility to adapt rapidly to changing manufacturing perimeters, shifts, weekend coverage, and short‑notice production planning shifts.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time overseas and domestically within the Airbus international network, supplier, and customer sites.
