The Web Plant Associate (WPA) supports the manufacturing operations of the Web Plant by performing a range of duties across five key functional areas:
Warping, Creel Hand, Finishing Operator, Weaver, and Weaver/Tie-In. The Web Plant Associate ensures production processes meet quality, safety, and delivery standards.
Responsibilities:
Warping
- Set up and operate warping machines to produce quality beams for weaving operations.
- Monitor creel yarn paths and respond to broken ends or run downs.
- Assist in beam changeovers and perform equipment checks.
- Unpack and inspect yarn spools for quality before loading onto the creel.
- Transport creel carts and support warping operations during spool changes.
- Dispose of waste materials and packaging in accordance with workplace standards.
- Escalate mechanical, safety, or material quality concerns to the Warping Operator or Supervisor.
Finishing Operator
- Operate finishing equipment and make precise machine adjustments based on product specifications.
- Conduct visual color inspections using a light box or colorimeter.
- Accurately record daily material usage and output.
- Perform tasks from a ladder at working heights up to 10 feet.
Weaver
- Operate and oversee 7–10 looms simultaneously to ensure high-quality webbing production.
- Draw-in patterns and troubleshoot loom defects independently.
- Coordinate beam replacement with forklift drivers and perform minor loom repairs.
- Ensure continuous monitoring and consistent loom performance.
- Remove used beams and prepare looms for fresh beam installations.
- Tie-in looms for pattern changes and assist in correcting weaving defects.
- Complete required quality inspections and associated production documentation.
- Monitor yarn usage and material bin levels for replenishment.
- Support general production activities and complete tasks as directed by the Team Leader, Production Supervisor, or Operations Manager.
- Make machine adjustments within defined parameters to maintain quality standards.
- Complete and submit production and quality documentation for traceability.
Education and Skills Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Functionally literate in English with ability to read safety documents and work instructions.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to maintain quality and efficiency under fast-paced production demands.
- Vision and mental acuity sufficient to detect product or process abnormalities.
- Be able to lift up to 45 pounds (overhead as needed), be able to frequently bend, reach, pull, grasp, stoop and climb ladders.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing or comparable production role.
- Prior experience with textile equipment is preferred but not required.
