Teams in General Merchandise (GM) prioritize guest experience while blending completion of tasks that ensure product is available and easy to shop – replenishment, pricing and signing, setting, andmaintainingthe sales floor and the backroom. The GM teams also execute inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities.

• Guest service fundamentals and experience supporting a guest-first culture across the store
• Experience in retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory replenishment, and process efficiency and improvement
• Executing daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver on sales goals

As aGeneral Merchandise Expert, no two daysare ever the same, but a typical day willmost likely include the following responsibilities:

• Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience by delivering on the following commitments:
• Greet:
• 10ft: be friendly – smile, make eye contact, or wave
• 4ft: greet the guest, smile and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
• Help guests find what they need and/or resolve issues to ensure a smooth, easy shopping experience
• End every guest transaction with a sincere thank you
• Actively support team efforts andassistpeers in other areas while maintaining a positive and respectful attitude
• Adjust to business and guest needs to deliver an easy and inspiring guest experience
• Execute daily tasks assigned to you by your leader to help achieve goals that align with business priorities including receiving products, restocking shelves, organizing the backroom,merchandise set up and maintenance,pricing activities,and putting up promotional signs for GM areas.
• If certified,operate power equipment to move merchandise or store fixtures.
• Learnandexecuteoperational procedures, such as setting and organizing merchandise, managing product accuracy andstock levels, and maintaining sales floor areas,affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
• Follow all Target policies and safety procedures, adhere to role-specific guidelines (e.g., food safety, pricing), and help maintain a safe, compliant workplace by reporting and correcting hazards.
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier, digital fulfillment processes (such as picking and packing orders or delivering pickup orders to guests) and maintain compliance culture while executing those duties, such as federal, state, and local adult beverage laws.
• All other duties based on business needs.
