RN II - MST / Medical Telemetry
The position requires a commitment to patient care in a medical telemetry setting. The unit consists of 30 beds, divided into three 10-bed units. Ratios are typically 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include surgical cases such as total hip and knee replacements, small bowel resections, hysterectomies, and exploratory laparotomies. Medical cases include MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, and COVID.
RNs will not be required to titrate drips, and there are no common titratable or set rate drips. Charge nurses manage a total of 50 inpatient beds, including various units. Nursing Assistants take responsibility for 10-15 patients, with RNs managing 3 patients if no NA is available. The unit cares for stable BiPap and C-Pap patients. Remote monitor techs are utilized, but RNs are expected to read telemetry strips.
The schedule includes every other weekend, with holiday rotation to ensure fair distribution. Floating may be required to the Multi Care Unit and Pediatric Unit. The dress code permits various scrub colors, excluding camouflage. The candidate must be open to attending both hospital and unit orientation based on experience and may be asked to precept nursing students. Cancellation policy allows for 4 shifts per contract or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks.
Charting is conducted using Cerner.
