The Desert Southwest Conference is seeking Program Leaders to serve at Camp Mingus Mountain located in Prescott Valley, AZ for the summer season. The Program Leader supports the daily operations and programming of Camp Mingus Mountain by ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment. This role includes hospitality support, activity leadership, camper supervision, and general camp operations. The Program Leader plays a key part in creating meaningful and positive experiences for guests and campers throughout the season.
Applicants must reside in a 50-100 mile radius of Prescott Valley, AZ.
- Ensure facilities are properly cleaned and prepared following each guest group.
- Prepare facilities for incoming guest groups.
- Monitor restrooms to ensure they are clean and well stocked.
- Ensure water coolers throughout the property are filled and refreshed.
- Assist with meal preparation and cleanup as assigned.
- Advise the Camp Director of significant occurrences at the site.
- Operate camp-provided program activities, including (but not limited to):
- High ropes
- Perform maintenance, groundskeeping and repair projects around camp as assigned.
- During active camp sessions, Program Leaders will:
- Lead and supervise campers in all areas either on-site or off-site.
- Sleep in cabins, tents, or assigned lodging with campers under their care.
- Lead small group discussions, activities, and other program-related experiences.
- Assist in program leadership as requested by Spiritual Director/Dean of a given camp.
- Operate camp-provided program activities as listed above.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent is preferred.
- Must be either one year out of high school or least 19 years old.
- Experience working with youth preferred.
- Must reside within 50–100 miles of Prescott, AZ.
- Must be culturally sensitive and demonstrate experience working with diverse populations.
- Understand and accept the mission of Desert Southwest Conference.
- Perform assigned duties in such a way as to fulfill the overall ministry aims of the camp, Desert Southwest Camp & Retreat Ministries and Desert Southwest Annual Conference.
- Possess or be willing to obtain the following certifications:
- CPR, AED and First Aid Certification
- Archery Certification
- High Ropes Course certification
- Safe Gatherings training
- Interpersonal Relationships
- Physical ability to participate in activities, run, climb, swim, or lift and work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
This is a seasonal position running from March 7, 2026, through October 26, 2026; however, there may be an opportunity to continue beyond that date into the next season based on organizational needs.
