The Opportunity
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) invites applications for the position of Library Evening Access Services Coordinator. This position plays a critical role in supporting library operations, delivering high-quality customer service, and ensuring access to library resources, services, and facilities during evening and weekend hours.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct assistance at library service desks, helping constituents discover, access, and utilize library collections, resources, and services in a variety of formats.
- Manage the circulation of library materials and equipment, including check-out and check-in functions.
- Utilize the Alma Library Services Platform (LSP), shared with the ERAU Hunt Library, to support circulation and access services operations.
- Oversee library operations, services, facilities, and resources during evening hours, serving as the primary staff member responsible for library operations during assigned shifts.
- Serve as the full-time staff member in charge on Saturdays and conduct facility closing procedures on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Monitor and respond appropriately to facility, operational, and safety-related concerns.
- Assist with the supervision, training, scheduling, and evaluation of student assistants, with direct responsibility for evening student staff supervision.
- Support the daily operations and ongoing functions of the Access Services unit.
- Coordinate facility-related requests and submit work orders to Facilities Management, Safety, and Custodial Services as needed.
- Participate as a member of the Library Marketing Committee and contribute to outreach and promotional initiatives.
- Provide frontline constituent service at library service points, assisting students and faculty members with access to library resources, services, materials, and technology.
- Utilize the Alma Library Services Platform to manage circulation transactions, patron accounts, equipment lending, and resource access.
- Troubleshoot and support library technology, including computers, printers, scanners, plotters, study room equipment, and loanable devices.
- Interpret and enforce library policies, procedures, patron confidentiality standards, and FERPA requirements.
- Resolve patron inquiries, complaints, and registration issues while maintaining a high level of constituent service.
- Receive billing questions and elevate as needed to Access Services Supervisor or designated authority.
- Oversee evening and weekend library operations, including facility closing procedures on Fridays and Saturdays.
- Support Access Services functions and serve as a cross-trained backup for departmental operations.
- Manage Course Reserves services, maintain usage statistics, and communicate with faculty and staff.
- Maintain departmental documentation, policies, procedures, and student employee resources.
- Contribute to library marketing, outreach initiatives, displays, exhibits, and programming.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and evaluating student assistants.
- Provide direct supervision of student employees during evening and Saturday shifts.
- Monitor performance, ensure compliance with departmental policies, and support professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Access Services team to maintain adequate staffing and service coverage.
- Promote a safe, secure, and welcoming library environment.
- Serve as the evening liaison with Safety, Facilities Management, and Custodial Services.
- Submit and monitor facility work orders and respond to operational and emergency situations as needed.
- Support library outreach, marketing, strategic initiatives, and special projects.
- Participate in library, campus, and university committees and meetings.
- Stay current with trends and best practices in library services through ongoing training and professional development.
- Support university and library strategic goals.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of library services and operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Fall and Spring Semesters:
Tuesday through Saturday, 12:00 p.m.
- 9:00 p.m.
Final Examination Period Extended
Hours:
Tuesday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m.
- 9:00 p.m.;
Friday and Saturday, 4:00 p.m.
- 1:00 a.m.
Summer
Schedule:
Tuesday through Friday, 7:00 a.m.
- 5:00 p.m.
Work hours may vary during academic breaks, holidays, and special operating periods to meet library staffing and service needs.
Qualifications Required Education- High school (or GED) level ability in grammar spelling, basic composition, and math.
- Analytical skills with an in depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and Internet end- user applications.
