Our internship program is designed for full-time students currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university and recent graduates in North America. These are temporary full-time paid positions that usually run from May through August.

This position is not eligible for Freeport-Mc Mo Ran  immigration work visa sponsorship.

Where You Will Work

Freeport-Mc Mo Ran  is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our virtual internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person when needed at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or one of our site locations.

Interns can work remotely from most states in the U.S., with the exception of California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina. Additional states may be excluded from virtual work based on business factors.

• Under general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for environmental projects and programs at assigned site for the Environmental Department.
• Assists in the installation, operation, and maintenance of environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment necessary to determine air, land, or water pollution levels.
• Operates and monitors a wide variety of sampling and data gathering equipment.
• Assists in performing hazardous waste site inspections and collaborates in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations.
• Ensures proper labeling of solid waste and hazardous materials.
• Assists with the monitoring of solid waste such as drums, hazardous materials collection sites and reclamation sites.
• Maintains current knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Currently enrolled full-time at an accredited four-year university pursuing a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science discipline or closely related field;
  OR
• Recent graduate (within 12 months prior to internship start date) with a degree, bachelor’s or higher, in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science or closely related field.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Possesses strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Highly accurate and detail oriented.
• Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment.

What We Offer:

• The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.00 - $33.75/hour. In dividual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
