The Digital Services and User Experience Specialist serves as a key support professional, providing essential services that support library operations, tutoring services, CLI technology, and student success initiatives. This position combines frontline student service, Canvas technology support, data‑driven assessment, digital archive management, learning resources curation, and project coordination to enhance student learning outcomes across all campus locations. The Specialist exercises independent judgment in daily operations while consulting with the Public Services Manager and Director of Library & Tutoring on strategic decisions, emerging issues, and initiatives that require alignment with departmental priorities.

Key Responsibilities Information Services & Student Technology Support (35%)
  • Serve as primary point of contact for student Canvas technology issues, providing troubleshooting support and guidance
  • Staff the information desk to provide frontline assistance to students, faculty, staff, and community members on library resources, tutoring services, and learning technologies
  • Maintain and update department AI chatbots to enhance automated student support and service delivery
  • Deliver Tier 2 technical support for technology resources within the Center for Learning and Innovation
  • Respond to student inquiries across multiple platforms (in-person, email, chat, phone)
  • Triage complex questions and technical issues to appropriate departments or personnel
  • Maintain welcoming, accessible service during scheduled desk coverage
Data Management, Assessment & Digital Archives (30%)
  • Maintain and expand the college's digital archive through systematic digitization workflows, metadata creation, and cloud‑based preservation systems
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to convert physical archive collections into accessible digital formats using scanning technology, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), and digital asset management systems
  • Collect, organize, and enter statistical data related to library usage, tutoring services, and CLI programs
  • Create and maintain comprehensive spreadsheets tracking key performance indicators
  • Generate regular and ad‑hoc reports for the Director, including data visualization and trend analysis
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of data collection methods
  • Support assessment activities and accreditation reporting through organized documentation
  • Identify patterns in service usage to inform decision‑making and resource allocation
Learning Resources & Outreach (25%)
  • Maintain and update course guides on the library website with current, relevant resources
  • Explore and integrate emerging technologies, including AI tools, to enhance student learning support
  • Develop and deliver student workshops on study strategies, research skills, and learning technologies
  • Conduct outreach visits to multiple campus locations and centers to promote CLI services
Project Coordination & Resource Management (10%)
  • Lead and complete special projects related as assigned by the Director
  • Complete projects related to physical and electronic collections, including weeding, processing, and enhancement initiatives
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while keeping Director informed of progress and challenges
