P Custodian role at Yavapai College

Perform a variety of cleaning tasks that require light physical effort and involve the use of hand or lightweight powered cleaning equipment. Specific instructions are provided on what to clean and the methods to use.

• Ability to follow work direction and work as part of a team
• Adapt to workplace and workload changes
• Accuracy and attention to detail with regard to work orders and time keeping
• Assists with setups when needed
• Properly vacuum carpet, dust mop and wet mop hard floors
• Keep bathrooms clean, sanitized, and stocked
• Identify issues with buildings and equipment and request work orders
• Maintain regular attendance to demonstrate dependability toward job duties
• Learn new tasks quickly
• Communicate effectively with peers and managers in person, by phone and email
• Work in an environment that promotes teamwork and strong work ethics
• Work after hours and weekends to cover shows at the Performing Arts Center, special events and projects

• Valid driver’s license
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Ability to safely operate all equipment and tools associated with custodial projects
• Hand tools, power tools, some heavy equipment
• Familiarity with OSHA's safety standards and ability to work within their parameters
• Ability to read maintenance manuals and make minor repairs to equipment
• Knowledge of all floor systems and finishes used at the College
• Proficiency in operating floor machines, including side-by-side, high-speed buffer and concrete polisher
• Identify building areas that need attention and correct deficiencies without being told
• Detail-oriented cleaning of all building areas
