American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry position requiring 2 years of experience and an AZ or compact RN license.
Details- Work on a 49-bed Telemetry Medical/Surgical unit in an acute care hospital setting
- Patient ratio of 1:5 with nurse aide support at 1:10-15
- Common diagnoses include CHF, COVID, respiratory conditions, GI issues, diabetes, telemetry monitoring, post-cath, and total joint replacement patients
- Uses Cerner EMR
- RNs required to interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift
- Dedicated tele/monitor techs available on the unit
- RNs are not required to titrate drips, though set-rate Diltiazem/Cardizem drips are used
- Respiratory equipment used includes BiPap, CPAP, and breathing treatments
- 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) with self-scheduling finalized by the manager on a 4-week cycle
- Every other weekend required, with 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
- No call or standby requirements
- Floating required, potentially to East Campus and PCU if qualified
- One shift of unit-specific orientation provided
- Active AZ or Compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- BSN not required
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips required
- Some experience with CVA and TIA preferred
- Total joint replacement experience preferred
- Cerner EMR experience recommended due to limited orientation time
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing contract
- Driver's license copy required for consideration
- Provide medical/surgical and telemetry nursing care to a diverse patient population
- Support from both Charge Nurses and House Supervisors on the unit
- Navy blue scrub color required per dress code
- Holiday coverage required for Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, typically working 2 days and an evening or 2 evenings and a day
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
- Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) with any Common Spirit-associated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year
- Candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts per contract, or 3 shifts if the contract is under 13 weeks
