Safety Officer

Guards, patrols and monitor's premises to prevent theft, violence and infractions of rules to include vehicular parking, traffic control and overall maintenance of public order. Perform a variety of safety functions to ensure the campus is a safe and secure learning environment for students, staff and visitors. Regular foot patrol of buildings, parking lots and surrounding property is required.

* Report, by phone, any suspicious or criminal activity to Campus Police

* Complete lock up of all buildings at assigned campus

* Report any hazards or safety concerns observed

* Complete daily activity log

* Perform other duties as assigned

This is a non-sworn uniformed position.

- Must be responsible with a good sense of judgment

* Must be able to learn and further develop professionally

* Ability to work independently and adapt in a changing workplace

* Strong interpersonal and written communication skills are required

* Physical ability is essential

* Must display a willingness to appreciate the differences in individuals

* Must successfully pass a polygraph test

* Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license without record of suspension or revocation in any State

* No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories

* Regular attendance is an essential job function as it demonstrates dependability towards the performance of job duties

- Experience in security or criminal justice field

* Three or more years' experience dealing with the public

* Exercise judgment and make decisions as to the appropriate action under pressure in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies

* Work cooperatively, courteously and professionally with all segments of the public

* Experience in crime prevention

* Familiar with the structure of a post-secondary educational institution

* Red Cross certified in CPR and AED

* Work experience in a community college/higher education environment
