DutiesDuties include but not limited to:
- Makes mechanical and electrical tests and visual inspection to determine causes of malfunctions or conditions which may cause breakdown or safety hazards.
- Utilizes manufacturer's blueprints and specifications to determine proper replacement of parts or other information to aid in troubleshooting, repair, or modification.
- Disassembles, makes repairs and reassembles all trade related device and/or equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance and operating checks on electrical and mechanical devices.
- Performs visual examinations, inspections, technical research, and operational tests to determine the need for, and the performance of, installing, modifying, overhauling, troubleshooting, and repairing facility systems on all level of difficulty and responsibility requiring skill, knowledge, and experience predominately in the electrical trade to perform work on equipment, switch- gear, high voltage power lines above and below ground, and all other components that comprise station electrical systems.
- Works on project objectives proposed by engineers, including planning and laying out the sequence of work from drawings or blueprints which may be incomplete regarding the specific wiring required in the unique application of equipment.
- Completes project requirements within timelines and standards of safety.
Work Schedule:
Monday thru Friday, 08:00am - 04:30pm
Physical Requirements:
Electricians at this grade make repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, platforms, and other hard to reach places. Electricians are required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. They frequently lift and carry tools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds, and occasionally up to 40 pounds. Movement of items weighing more than 40 pounds will be accomplished with assistance.
