This is a full-time, on‑site role for experienced micro trenching operators based in Chandler, AZ. In this role, the operator will safely run micro trenching equipment to cut narrow trenches for utility and fiber installations, following project plans and site markings. Daily responsibilities include inspecting equipment, performing basic maintenance, setting up work areas, and coordinating with supervisors and crews to ensure accurate trench depth, alignment, and backfill.
The operator will follow safety protocols, traffic control guidelines, and local regulations while working around existing utilities and in active site conditions. The role also involves documenting work completed, reporting issues or hazards, and supporting other sitework tasks as needed to keep projects on schedule.
- Hands‑on experience operating micro trenching or similar trenching equipment, with strong understanding of machine controls and basic field maintenance.
- Knowledge of sitework, civil construction practices, and utility installation, including reading basic plans, markings, and layout instructions.
- Commitment to safety, including adherence to PPE requirements, traffic control procedures, and safe work practices around buried utilities and public areas.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varied weather, stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and perform manual labor related to trenching and site cleanup.
- Reliable transportation to Chandler, AZ job sites and willingness to work full‑time schedules, including occasional extended hours as project needs require.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, inspectors, and crew members, and to report field conditions or equipment issues promptly.
- Prior experience in construction or utility installation environments; micro trenching experience strongly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant equipment certifications or safety training (e.g., OSHA 10, equipment operator cards) are a plus.
