Job DescriptionNow hiring a Nutrition Specialist to help organize and implement nutrition education efforts for a locally based nonprofit organization. This position offers an excellent daytime schedule, with benefits available after the introductory period. Take this opportunity to make a lasting impact on the health and well‑being of Aroostook County residents! Full‑Time/Days; 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday; $20.05/hr.
The Nutrition Specialist will play a key role in delivering nutrition education to individuals and community groups. Day‑to‑day responsibilities will include community outreach, facilitating trainings, and supporting program goals under the guidance of the Program Coordinator. Ideal role for an individual who enjoys working with the public, values community health, and is comfortable following established guidelines in order to meet program requirements.
Employee must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to local areas using a company‑owned vehicle.
- Deliver nutrition education and outreach activities to individuals, families, and community groups.
- Assist with scheduling, preparing, and facilitating educational sessions and community events.
- Support partnerships with schools, agencies, and community organizations.
- Follow established grant guidelines, program procedures, and reporting requirements.
- Assist with collecting participation data and completing required activity documentation.
- Help maintain educational materials and outreach resources.
- Communicate regularly with program staff regarding schedules, needs, and outcomes.
- Provide direct service support as needed to ensure program coverage.
- Regularly travel to designated sites to meet with clients and make in‑person presentations.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- High school diploma required.
- At least 3-4 years of relevant professional experience in nutrition, health education, community outreach, or a related field required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Nutrition, Education, Behavioral Services, Nursing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience delivering group education, presentations, or individual instruction.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant computer applications.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Company vehicle will be provided.
- Ability to pass required background checks.
