Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist for a variable-shift contract at a small teaching hospital in Maine, serving ED, inpatient, and outpatient populations across a 24/7 CT department.
Responsibilities- Work in a single-room CT department at an 89-bed teaching facility
- Patient population is primarily adult and geriatric with some pediatric cases
- Care areas served include the ED, inpatient, and outpatient settings
- Outpatient cases include oncology, general abdominal pain, post-surgical, and trauma
- Biopsies are performed on the unit; training is provided for those without prior biopsy experience
- Average daily volume is 25–30 scans
- Equipment includes a Siemens X.Cite CT and a GE 16-slice PET CT (used as backup); experience preferred but not required
- EMR:
Cerner; PACS:
Enterprise Imaging AGFA - 36-hour variable schedule; the department operates 24/7 and specific shifts (days or nights) will vary based on departmental need
- Weekend rotation based on departmental need
- No call required
- Holidays are covered on a rotating basis with other techs
- Fixed location — no floating required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation is approximately 1–1.5 weeks, adjusted based on experience and comfort level
- Unit support includes a Lead Tech, an on-site Radiologist, and internal transport; 2 techs are scheduled on weekdays and evenings, and 1 tech on weekends

- Scrubs may be any solid professional color; scrubs are available from the facility if needed
- Free parking is available on site
- All RTO requests require manager approval and must be submitted at the time of consideration
- Candidates must be willing to work variable day and night shifts throughout the contract duration
- Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience required
- Current BLS required
- ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications required
- Active compact or Maine (ME) state license required; license required if applicable
- Experience with CTA and general CT studies required
- IV start skills preferred
- Experience with Toshiba and/or GE equipment preferred
- Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME
- Candidates must not have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity
- Flu vaccination required for clearance to start; medical exemptions are accepted and reviewed by the facility
- 2 professional references within the past year required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse (peer references not accepted)
- Full SSN, copies of all certifications, and a valid driver's license required for consideration
