Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a CT Technologist at a small community teaching hospital in Maine, primarily working in X-Ray with rotation into CT, open to first-time travelers with at least 1 year of experience.
Responsibilities- Work setting is an 89-bed community teaching hospital's Imaging department, including 1 CT room
- Primary assignment is in X-Ray with rotation into the CT department based on departmental need
- Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with some pediatric patients across ED, outpatient, and inpatient care areas
- Outpatient cases include oncology, general abdominal pain, post-surgical, and trauma
- Average of 25–30 scans per day
- Biopsies are performed; training will be provided and prior experience is not required
- Uses Siemens X.Cite and GE 16-slice PET CT (used as backup); experience with either is preferred but not required
- EMR:
Cerner; PACS:
Enterprise Imaging AGFA - Variable shifts covering a 24/7 department — specific shift (days or nights) will vary based on departmental need throughout the contract
- Weekend rotation varies based on need
- No call required
- Holidays are covered on a rotation with other staff
- Fixed location within CT; no floating required
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Supported by a Lead Tech, a radiologist on site, and internal transport; 2 techs on weekdays and evenings, 1 tech on weekends
- Orientation is approximately 1–1.5 weeks depending on experience and comfort level
- RTO requires manager approval and must be disclosed at the time of consideration
- Candidates must have a permanent address 100+ miles south/southwest of Bangor, ME to be eligible; candidates living 100+ miles north may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Northern Light Health Hospital in a permanent capacity are not eligible
- Flu vaccination is required for clearance to start
- Medical exemptions for the flu vaccine are accepted and reviewed by the facility; a minimum of 2 weeks must be allowed for committee review
- 2 professional references within the past year are required, with at least one from a supervisor, manager, director, or charge nurse — peer references are not accepted
- SSN, copies of all certifications, and a driver's license are required for consideration
- Scrubs may be any solid, professional color; scrubs are available from the facility if needed
- Free parking is available on site
- Interviews conducted via Simplifile
- Minimum of 1 year of CT Technologist experience required; more experience preferred
- ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications required
- Current BLS required
- ME state license required; compact license accepted — license required if applicable
- Proficiency with CTA studies and general imaging studies
- IV start skills preferred
- Experience with Toshiba and GE equipment preferred
