We are seeking a Senior Machinist Technician to support precision manufacturing operations for advanced aerospace propulsion systems and research hardware. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality, tight-tolerance components in a fast-paced R&D environment. You will work from engineering drawings to execute machining operations, perform in-process inspections, and ensure dimensional accuracy across complex parts.
This position partners closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support prototype development and low-volume production efforts.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical machining expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize machining processes to support efficient, high-precision manufacturing.
Required Qualifications- 3+ years of CNC machining experience in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment
- Demonstrated experience independently setting up and operating CNC mills, lathes, or multi-axis machining centers
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
- Experience using precision inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other metrology equipment
- Familiarity with CNC control systems such as FANUC, Haas, or similar platforms
- Demonstrated ability to machine precision components with tight tolerances and high dimensional accuracy
- Ability to review and interpret part designs and engineering models using Solid Works or similar CAD software
- Understanding of tooling selection, machining strategies, speeds and feeds, and material properties
- Ability to perform machine setup, adjust offsets, and make minor program edits at the control when needed
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail in precision manufacturing work
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing or R&D environment
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance
- Associate degree or technical certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field
- Background machining aerospace or high-precision components with tight tolerances
- Proficiency operating Haas CNC equipment or similar machining platforms
Exposure to prototype development, first-article builds, or low-volume R&D manufacturing environments - Ability to machine advanced composite materials such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, or other aerospace composite structures
- 4% 401(k) match
- Employee stock option program
- Opportunities for professional development and advancement
- Exciting and challenging work environment
- Independently set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and multi-axis machining centers to manufacture precision components
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications to ensure parts meet design requirements and tolerances
- Install tooling, fixtures, and raw materials while configuring machine offsets and setup parameters according to job specifications
- Select appropriate tooling and adjust speeds and feeds based on material type, machining strategy, and part geometry
- Perform in-process inspections using precision measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, and other metrology equipment
- Monitor machining operations and identify issues related to tooling, machine performance, or dimensional accuracy
- Make minor program edits or adjustments at the machine control as needed; full programming is not a primary responsibility of this role
- Document inspection results, setup information, and production data to maintain accurate manufacturing records
- Assist with machine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration to ensure reliable equipment performance
- Collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to resolve machining challenges and improve part manufacturability
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve machining processes, tooling strategies, and overall shop efficiency
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized machine shop environment while following all safety protocols and procedures
