Location: Deepdale Road, Preston
Job Type: Full Time
Hours per Week: 40 hours - Monday to Friday 11:30am till 8:00pm

Salary: Up to £22,00 per hour dependent on experience + Overtime

We are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join our team and join a workshop where their skills really make a difference.

The Role

As a HGV Technician, you’ll be at the heart of our operation—inspecting, servicing, diagnosing, and repairing a diverse fleet of HGVs. Your expertise will ensure every vehicle leaves the workshop safe, compliant, and ready for the road, helping to keep downtime to a minimum and our customers moving.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on HGVs and trailers.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults.
  • Complete MOT preparations and ensure vehicles meet DVSA standards.
  • Carry out safety checks in line with company and legal requirements.
  • Use diagnostic equipment to identify faults and apply effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job cards, and compliance documentation.
  • Work to deadlines to minimise vehicle downtime.
  • Support colleagues in the workshop, sharing knowledge and best practice.
  • Adhere to health & safety policies and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
Qualifications
  • Qualified HGV Technician / Mechanic (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • A current HGV Licence (Class 1 or
    2) desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
Experience
  • Proven experience in commercial vehicle repair & maintenance.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of HGV systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrics.
