Diesel Generator Field Service Engineer

Coverage:
Field-based across the North West and surrounding regions
Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 basic salary

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Diesel Generator Field Service Engineer to join a respected specialist power business supporting customers across critical power, industrial, commercial and standby power environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer who takes pride in their work, enjoys fault‑finding and wants to be part of a knowledgeable and supportive service team.
The RoleAs a Diesel Generator Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance, service and repair of diesel generators across customer sites throughout the North West and surrounding regions.
You will work independently in the field, while also being supported by an experienced wider service team. The role will involve diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, carrying out inspections, completing load testing, supporting basic commissioning and ensuring customers receive a reliable and professional service.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on diesel generators
- Service and repair standby and prime power generator systems
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults
- Work on diesel engines across major OEMs
- Carry out control panel diagnostics and basic commissioning
- Complete load testing, inspections and compliance checks
- Produce clear and accurate service reports
- Communicate professionally with customers on site
- Take part in an on-call rota as part of the wider engineering team
- Proven experience servicing and repairing diesel generators
- Strong electrical bias with good mechanical understanding
- Experience working in a field service environment
- Confident working independently and managing your own workload
- Good fault‑finding and diagnostic skills
- Professional, reliable and customer‑focused approach
- Full UK driving licence
- £38,000 – £45,000 basic salary
