Flooring Inspector

£30,000 to £36,000 basic DOE, plus van, fuel card and performance bonus

Cockerill & Co is recruiting on behalf of a well-established flooring contractor that supplies and fits for house builders across the North West and Manchester. They're looking for a Site Inspector to keep installation standards high across their developments.

This is a field role. You'll spend around four days a week out on site and one day in the office near Preston. It's ideal for a time-served fitter who's ready to come off their knees but wants to stay in the trade.

• Inspecting installations across carpet, LVT, vinyl and laminate on live house builder sites
• Checking subfloor preparation and moisture readings before fitting starts
• Signing off completed plots and managing snagging through to completion
• Investigating defects and working out whether the cause is the subfloor, the product or the fit
• Writing clear inspection reports with photographs
• Building good working relationships with site managers
• Monitoring fitter quality and helping recruit, induct and develop new fitters
• Keeping accurate records, including RAMS and site documentation

• A hands-on flooring background, ideally as a time-served fitter
• Strong product and installation knowledge across the main floor coverings
• Confidence to have straight conversations with fitters and site managers
• Good written English for reports
• CSCS card
• Full UK driving licence

• NVQ Level 2 in floor covering or equivalent
• Subfloor preparation training (e.g. Floor skills, Ardex,
  
  F. Ball)
• New build or house builder experience
• SSSTS or SMSTS
• Contacts in the North West fitting community

• £30,000 to £36,000 basic depending on experience
• Company van and fuel card for business use
• Performance-related bonus
