Role Description

The Early Childhood Educator is a full-time, on-site role based at Pine Trees Nursery in Prestwick. This role involves planning and delivering age-appropriate learning activities, supporting children’s play and exploration, and promoting their overall development. The educator will observe and document children’s progress, maintain a safe and tidy classroom environment, and follow nursery policies and child safeguarding procedures. Day-to-day responsibilities include engaging children in creative and educational experiences, supporting routines such as meals and rest times, and communicating regularly with families and colleagues to ensure consistent care.

The educator will also collaborate with the team to refine curriculum plans, participate in staff meetings, and contribute to a positive, inclusive nursery culture.

Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development and experience working with children in a nursery, preschool, or similar setting.
  • Creativity skills for designing engaging learning activities, play-based experiences, and classroom materials.
  • Organization skills for managing daily routines, maintaining records, and ensuring a safe, orderly learning environment.
  • Relevant childcare or early years qualification (e.g., certificate or diploma in Early Childhood Education or equivalent).
  • Understanding of child safeguarding, health and safety practices, and inclusive education principles.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to respond calmly and constructively to children’s needs and behaviors.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
