INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ATTORNEY - JUNIOR

Key Responsibilities & Duties

• Trademark Prosecution: Conducting searches, filing, and managing trademark portfolios.
• Patent Work: Assisting with patent searches, drafting, and navigating the patent application process.
• IP Transactions: Drafting licensing agreements, technology transfers, and confidentiality agreements.
• Litigation Support: Assisting with infringement cases, oppositions, and domain name disputes.
• Client Management: Advising clients on securing and enforcing intellectual property rights.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: An LLB degree is required, often with specialized courses in intellectual property law.
• Experience: 1-3 years of PQE (Post-Qualification Experience) as an associate in an IP firm or department.
• Registration: Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa is typically required.
• Specialization: Demonstrated interest in, or completion of, SAIIPL (South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law) exams is a major advantage.
• Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and excellent writing skills.
