An exciting career opportunity exists at Medipost Pharmacy. The primary purpose for this position is to supervise and manage maintenance staff effectiveness and quality of work, coordinate preventative maintenance staff and/or contractors to ensure Company property and assets are kept in perfect working condition. The Manager must be able to collaborate with Health and Safety officers to ensure the group adheres to the Health and Safety Act/Policy and Health and Safety Strategic Objectives, liaise and manage relationships with contracted Health and Safety partners and the Department of Labour, and ensure all contractors on site comply fully with the OHS Act requirements.

The Manager must be able to monitor and manage staff productivity, time, and attendance according to the Company SOP.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervising and managing maintenance staff effectiveness and quality of work
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance staff and/or contractors to ensure Company property and assets are kept in perfect working condition (Refer to preventative maintenance SOP)
  • Identify areas for improvement/renovation and assign workers and contractors accordingly
  • Obtain and present quotations for maintenance and ad-hoc projects to be done and oversee all installations & repairs done by own staff and/or external contractors
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls for maintenance (includes after hours call outs)
  • Ensure the yard is neat and tidy, including gardens and waste areas
  • Ensure water system is in working order at all times
  • Responsible for keeping HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system in perfect working order in conjunction with appointed service provider (Refer to SLA)
  • Responsible for all fridge and freezer maintenance in accordance with Cold Chain requirements (Refer to relevant SOP)
  • Maintain perimeter in conjunction with Security Team to ensure a high level of security is maintained
  • Compressor and generator maintenance in accordance with SOP
  • Manage the set-up and take down of different capital equipment upgrades and ad-hoc projects
  • Perform administrative and reporting tasks as needed
  • Carry out frequent inspections of the facility to identify and resolve maintenance issues
  • Adhere to and manage good housekeeping practices
  • Regularly check electrical, plumbing, air-conditioning and other systems to ensure functionality
  • Ensure all contractors have a Service Level Agreement (SLA) in place e.g. HVAC unit, Cold Room, generator, etc.
  • Liaison and relationship management with Landlord and Body Corporate
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety officers to ensure the group adheres to the Health and Safety Act/Policy and Health and Safety Strategic Objectives (Refer to Health and Safety Plan)
  • Liaison and relationship management with contracted Health and Safety partner and Department of Labour
  • Ensure all contractors on site comply fully with the OHS Act requirements
  • Ensure that the Group Waste Management Policy is implemented and adhered to
  • Probation and performance management evaluations conducted within agreed timelines
  • IR interventions done timeously and accurately
  • Support Company Transformation Plan Strategy
  • Identification of HPIs and Personal Development Plans (PDP) created
  • Coaching and mentoring of HPIs
  • Regular review and feedback sessions with action plans to meet PDP outcomes
  • Staff productivity monitoring and management
  • Manage time & attendance according to Company Policies

Specific Requirements/Other Important Information:

  • Liaise on a regular basis with the Responsible Pharmacist (RP) or GCOO to ensure that all Regulatory requirements are met
  • Ability to prioritize large workload
  • Ability to maintain policy guidelines within pressured situations
  • Ability to act independently
  • Ability to accept and take charge of projects allocated on short notice
  • Willingness to work overtime during high-pressure periods
  • Ability to lift heavy loads
  • Physical agility (bending, reaching, kneeling, crawling, twisting, etc. to inspect/maintain equipment)
  • Ability to handle different levels of stress and responsibilities
  • Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

  • Matric
  • Facility Management Diploma/Degree or Qualified Electrician (certified) or
  • Certified Maintenance Manager (CMM) or
  • Health and Safety Qualification

IDEAL:

  • Health and Safety Qualification
  • Plumbing certified
  • HVAC certified

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 years experience as Maintenance Manager
  • Experience in managing/overseeing operations
  • Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing (including septic tank systems), carpentry, electrical systems (including generators, fridges, freezers, HVAC units), etc.
  • Working knowledge of machines and equipment
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications and schematics
  • Knowledge of structure and grounds to be maintained

TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Gezina and Kawari Midrand Facility blue-print (structural, electrical, plumbing, etc.)
  • Company and departmental policies and procedures, ongoing soft-skills development training (in-house), Eco-Time, ESS, Personal PDP
