Geologist - Exploration & Development

About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Geologist to join their exploration and development team in Pretoria . This role is pivotal in identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon resources, contributing critical geological insights to exploration strategies and development projects. You will analyze subsurface data, interpret geological models, and collaborate closely with reservoir engineers and geophysicists to de-risk prospects. • Interpret seismic data, well logs, and core samples to understand subsurface geological structures and stratigraphy.
• Develop and refine geological models for exploration and development opportunities.
• Perform basin analysis and prospect evaluation, assessing geological risk and potential hydrocarbon volumes.
• Collaborate with geophysicists and reservoir engineers on integrated subsurface studies.
• Contribute to exploration strategy development and support drilling operations with geological expertise.

• Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; a Master's degree is advantageous.
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in geological exploration, preferably in the oil & gas industry .
• Proficiency in geological software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite) for data interpretation and modeling.
• Strong understanding of structural geology, sedimentology, and sequence stratigraphy.
• Excellent analytical, presentation, and teamwork skills.
