Senior Geologist - Exploration

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist to join their exploration team based in Pretoria . This role is integral to identifying and evaluating new oil and gas prospects. You will be responsible for the geological interpretation of seismic data, well logs, and core samples to build subsurface models and assess resource potential. Working in a hybrid capacity, you will collaborate closely with geophysicists, reservoir engineers, and management to guide exploration strategies and de-risk prospective acreage.

• Interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and petrophysical data to create detailed subsurface models.
• Conduct prospectivity assessments and volumetric calculations for new exploration ventures.
• Analyze seismic data, including 2D and 3D interpretations, to identify structural and strati graphic traps.
• Evaluate well logs and core data to understand reservoir characteristics and depositional environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define exploration targets and recommend drilling locations.
• Prepare geological reports and present findings to management and technical teams.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or a related earth science field.
• A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in oil and gas exploration geology.
• Proficiency in geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Geo Graphix).
• Strong understanding of seismic interpretation techniques and sequence stratigraphy.
• Experience with core analysis and petrophysical data interpretation.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment in Pretoria .
