General Maintenance Worker

The primary purpose of this job is to provide general and multi-disciplined repair and maintenance duties including but not limited to handy works consisting of welding, carpentry, tiling, plastering, lubricating, filling of crevices, hanging of doors, general building maintenance works, basic plumbing works (installing and replacing taps, showers and related parts, attending to blockages, leaking and/or running toilets, toilet seats, silicone works, sealing, etc.)

and basic electrical works (installing and replacing tubes, bulbs and related parts, repair and/or replace, hydro boils, plugs, etc.) and paintwork in compliance with local authority specifications and in line with best industry practice as well as to ensure that South Point standards and requirements are met at all times.

To assist maintenance manager and the maintenance team leader with all facilities maintenance request.

The incumbent provides technical support with regard to reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance on plant and equipment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Inspect and repair table and chairs.

· General building repairs.

· Perform basic plumbing maintenance on, toilets, basins, hydro boils and Water coolers.

· Checking of electrical (lights), plumbing, air-condition and other systems to ensure functionality.

· Replacement of light fittings, bulbs, plugs and any electrical installation under the supervision of the maintenance team leader/manager.

· Perform painting work

· Assist maintenance team leader in correcting items listed on the house keeping audit.

· Assist in moving office furniture and equipment.

· Performing maintenance work at any of the Medipost premises.

· Preforming schedule inspection of building and equipment

· Perform scheduled inspection of generators

· Assist in refilling generators during and after power outages.

QUALICATIONS:

MINIMUM

• Matric

EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years experience in general maintenance work

• Prior Experience as General Worker
• Code 10 Driver’s license

• GWP and SOP
