Apprentice Electric Vehicle Technician

POSITION INFO: APPRENTICE ELECTRIC VEHICLE TECHNICIAN

Role Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated young technician or trainee to kickstart their career in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle industry. As an Apprentice EV Technician, you will work directly alongside our High Voltage Technician, gaining hands‑on experience in EV diagnostics, servicing, and repairs.

Key Responsibilities (KPIs) Workshop Support
  • Assist with basic vehicle servicing and maintenance.
  • Perform routine inspections and pre‑delivery checks.
  • Support diagnostics and repair tasks under supervision.
  • Assist with parts removal, refitting, and general workshop tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
Technical Development
  • Learn electric vehicle systems, tools, and processes.
  • Assist with high‑voltage safety procedures (under supervision).
  • Support fault finding and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Participate in technical training and skills development.
Administrative & Operational Support
  • Assist with job cards and workshop documentation.
  • Support parts control, packaging, and inventory tasks.
  • Assist with vehicle handovers and collections when required.
Requirements Qualifications
  • Matric / Grade 12.
  • A technical or mechanical qualification (N1–N3 or technical school equivalent) is highly preferred.
Experience
  • Basic mechanical knowledge or previous workshop exposure.
Skills
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license (or currently working toward one).
Competencies
  • A strong work ethic, reliability, and a keen eye for detail.
  • You should be a team player with a positive attitude.
What Makes You a Great Fit? (Advantageous)
  • Previous experience in a workshop or exposure to electrical/electronic systems.
  • Enrolment in a formal apprenticeship program.
  • A genuine passion for electric vehicles and new automotive technologies!
