Solar Electrician

Introduction

Our client is growing their team and looking for a Solar Electrician. The ideal candidate would have worked on both commercial and residential projects.

• Install, connect and commission solar PV systems, including panels, inverters and battery storage.
• Carry out electrical installations across residential and commercial projects.
• Conduct system testing, commissioning and performance checks.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, inverter and solar system faults.
• Perform repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance on existing installations.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
• Ensure all installations meet SANS 10142, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and resolve technical issues during installation and commissioning.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure work meets required standards.
• Work professionally with clients, contractors and project teams on-site.
• Complete installations within agreed project timelines.
• Maintain accurate installation, testing and commissioning records.
• Maintain a safe, clean and professional working environment.
• Where required, provide technical guidance to junior team members or site personnel

Essential:

• Qualified Electrician with a recognised electrical qualification.
• Valid Wireman's Licence, where applicable.
• Proven hands‑on experience in solar PV installations.
• Practical experience with inverters and battery storage systems.
• Experience across both residential and commercial electrical environments.
• Good understanding of SANS 10142 and electrical safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and problem‑solving ability.
• Valid South African driver's licence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.

Highly Advantageous:

• Commercial and industrial solar PV experience.
• Experience with larger‑scale solar installations.
• Three‑phase electrical experience.
• BESS / battery energy storage experience.
• Experience commissioning solar and battery systems.
• Experience with multiple inverter and battery brands.
• Generator integration and hybrid/off‑grid system experience.
• Experience with solar monitoring and energy management systems.
• Previous experience supervising installations or junior electricians.
• Experience dealing directly with clients and project stakeholders.
