Workshop Manager (Diesel Mechanic)

Our client, a well-established company in the transport and logistics industry, is looking for an experienced Workshop Manager to join their Pretoria branch.

This is a hands-on management role suited to someone with strong diesel mechanical experience who can lead a workshop team, keep operations running smoothly and take ownership when things get busy.

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic
• 8–10 years’ industry experience
• Previous workshop management or supervisory experience
• Strong experience working on Mercedes-Benz Trucks
• Experience with the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic System
• Bodywork and welding skills
• Valid South African EC driver’s licence
• Strong leadership and people-management skills
• Hardworking, reliable and able to work under pressure
• Willing to work overtime and attend to mechanical breakdowns when required
• Own tools will be an advantage

• Manage the day-to-day workshop operations
• Lead, manage and mentor workshop staff
• Oversee the Workshop Foreman at another branch and provide guidance and support
• Oversee vehicle repairs, maintenance and breakdowns
• Manage job cards, licensing administration and workshop documentation
• Control workshop costs, stock, tools and equipment
• Ensure work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
• Assist with technical troubleshooting and diagnostics
