Substation Technician

Our client requires a diligent and safety-conscious Substation Technician to join their dedicated team in Pretoria . This essential role involves the hands-on maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical equipment within high-voltage substations, playing a critical part in maintaining the stability and integrity of the national electricity grid. You will work on a variety of complex equipment, ensuring operational readiness and compliance with stringent safety standards.

• Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and servicing of substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switch gear.
• Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance on all substation assets.
• Perform testing and calibration of protection relays and control systems.
• Respond to and troubleshoot faults and emergencies within the substation environment.
• Ensure all work is performed in strict accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain detailed logs and records of all maintenance activities and equipment performance.

• Relevant technical qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a substation environment.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and equipment.
• Proficiency in using specialized testing equipment for substations.
• Valid certification in working at heights and working with live low-voltage systems.
