Overview
The School of Professional and Technical Education at Utah State University Price campus offers a full-time Staff Assistant position. This position has two major roles. First, it will work under the direction of the Lead Mining Instructor. They will help manage day-to-day operations of the Mining program. Second, it will support the general operations of the School of Professional and Technical Education (PTE) on the USU Eastern campus, in Price, Utah following established policies and procedures.
This position is split equally between the two roles.
Mining Department Administrative Assistant
Role Responsibilities:
- Responsible for registration, billing and tracking of mine training students, revenues and expenses.
- Coordinates with instructors to help deliver top quality MSHA trainings.
- Maintains MSHA/Mining Program records to comply with state and institutional requirements, processes, procedures, & reporting.
- Supports Instructors by monitoring training courses to ensure client satisfaction, quality and effectiveness of instructional materials and overall course success.
- Develops and maintains positive customer relations and visibility through professional and positive actions with the customer.
- Maintains knowledge of current mine courses offerings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Professional and Technical Education
Role Responsibilities:
- Program promotion support.
- Grant project assistance
- Program data entry and management
- Assist in preparation of reports
- Internal document processing
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or aptitude is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates Degree or higher in Business or related field.
- Two (2) years of directly related experience in a business or related field.
- Strong office and managerial skills and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- General knowledge of the mining industry, mine-training resources, including state and local agencies, as well as other established and potential training partners.
- Ability to work with private sector employers/customers and management to coordinate employer specific training.
- Ability to develop, implement and monitor training agreements
- Ability to maintain accurate, auditable training & financial records.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
