Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems division is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer / Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer for the Air Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Integration and Test (I&T) Lab Design and Integration (D&I) team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel program.
Responsibilities- Architect, develop, and deliver multiple cable/harness engineering design solutions.
- Lead the Special Test Equipment (STE) statement of work from concept design to product delivery; act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Cable, Harness, and Instrumentation.
- Support development of lab Operational Concepts (OPSCON) to maximize test resources while meeting schedule and technical requirements.
- Assist in developing hardware acceptance test requirements and procedures.
- Define and develop electrical drawing trees and interconnect diagrams for the test line.
- Convert system‑level requirements into cable/harness requirements.
- Establish harness/cable routing, segmentation, voltage drop analysis, and capacitance studies.
- Implement test and measurement systems in a lab space and provide technical lead review and sign‑off on electrical harness and wiring diagrams.
- Mentor engineers on cable/harness design and interconnects.
- Principal Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years of experience;
Master’s degree with at least 3 years of experience; or PhD with at least 1 year of experience. - Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer:
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with at least 8 years of experience;
Master’s degree with at least 6 years of experience; or PhD with at least 4 years of experience. - 3+ years of experience using CAD design tools (e.g., NX, CATIA, Siemens Capital).
- 3+ years of cable/harness design experience, preferably following military and/or aviation standards.
- Minimum 1 year experience with MIL‑STD‑1553, RS‑422, CAN, or similar data signal types.
- Minimum 1 year experience with harness fabrication, component selection, installation, and manufacturing support.
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA‑A‑620, NASA‑STD‑8739.4, and AS50881.
- Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance (current and within scope,
