Job Description

Painter Helper position at Intermountain Electronics (IE). The role is based in Price, UT, on the Day Shift, reporting to the Final Assembly Supervisor / Paint Supervisor.

Position Summary

Provide labor support to daily operations in the paint department. Opportunity may be available to train and become an Industrial Painter.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (40‑hour week; additional time as required).

Essential Functions
  • Prepare equipment for painting by cleaning, washing, applying caulk, taping, masking, wiping, vacuuming, hanging, etc.
  • Lift and hang pieces on a rack for cleaning and painting.
  • Operate a pressure washer.
  • Operate forklifts of various sizes and makes.
  • Operate an overhead crane.
  • Wear a respirator.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces, re-tap holes, paint to OEM condition.
  • Disassemble, clean, and repair equipment.
  • Finish, patch, and repair surfaces as needed, including emergency repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by practicing good housekeeping.
Training Opportunities
  • Learn and maintain paint equipment.
  • Remove paint and finishes; prepare surfaces for application of paint.
  • Identify characteristics of surfaces to be coated and ensure proper preparation and application.
  • Mix and match paints; prepare materials and equipment for a variety of applications.
  • Apply various coatings (epoxy, enamel, urethane, paint, varnish, stain, lacquers) using high‑volume, low‑pressure airless and conventional paint equipment.
  • Check for quality during the job to ensure coating is applied per specifications and reduce re‑work.
Other Essential Duties
  • Maintain regular and consistent job attendance; arrive on time.
  • Follow and comply with IE Core values and cardinal safety rules.
  • Follow and comply with IE safety program; maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Assist in final assembly by assembling and installing electrical components as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED preferred; completion of at least 10th grade required, plus up to one‑month related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Consistently lift 20 lbs.; frequently lift/move 40 lbs.; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
  • Perform frequent heavy lifting, continual bending and standing on a concrete floor.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in all units of measurement; compute rate, ratio, percent; interpret bar graphs.
  • Solve practical problems with limited standardization.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Use computer to log time and job hours.
  • Possess valid OSHA forklift and overhead crane certification or ability to obtain such.
  • Pass a Pulmonary Functions Test to wear a respirator.
  • Comply with and follow all IE safety programs, policies and procedures; operate and perform job duties safely.
  • Operate/work safely around machinery/moving equipment.
  • Vision requirements: close vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Use hands for finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; talk or hear.
  • Stand frequently; stoop, kneel, crouch, or smell; occasionally walk and sit.

Work schedule:

Must be able to work a 40‑hour work week and additional time as required.
