• Performs head-to-toe pre-procedure assessment on all patients and reassesses intra-procedure and post procedure as needed. This includes pediatric, geriatric and the general patient population.
• Carries out medical and surgical asepsis during treatments and special procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative factors that alter immediate post-operative phase.
• Obtains, documents and assesses vital signs and cardio-respiratory systems every five (5) minutes for changes and provides appropriate treatment or care.
• Identifies physical symptoms and changes and responds appropriately to the patient in an emergency or physically distressful situation; communicates with Physician and/or Anesthesia of any pertinent changes in a timely manner.
• Communicates "Hand off" report effectively and thoroughly on the patient's condition upon transfer from PACU to the receiving unit Registered Nurse.
• Maintains moderate sedation competency. Demonstrates knowledge of sedation medications and ability to assess cardio-respiratory systems for changes and provides appropriate treatment.
• Demonstrates knowledge of airway management and procedures and the ability to use the equipment.
• Accurately performs patient assessments and identifies patient needs.
• Identifies and initiates appropriate nursing interventions.
• Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
• Performs timely and appropriate documentation relating to medical necessity in the medical record.
• Responsible for completion and revision of the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
• Performs timely and accurate QI assessments.

• Current Utah state RN license.
• Associate's degree from an accredited nursing school.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• ACLS and PALS required.
• One year of experience preferred.
• ASLS certification preferred.
