PDU Assembly Technicians assemble mechanical assemblies, attach electrical components, and perform basic wiring functions (e.g., switches, breakers, electrical panels) on high‑volume production equipment. Technicians must cross‑train between mechanical and electrical tasks, maintaining a high‑volume, high‑efficiency, high‑quality working ethic.
Work ScheduleMonday – Thursday, 8:00 pm – 6:30 am. Must be able to work a 40‑hour work week and additional time as required.
Essential Functions- Under the direction of the Electrical and Mechanical Lead Technician or PDU Assembly Supervisor, follow and interpret technical assembly prints to build mechanical assemblies, bus bar assemblies, wire, and install electrical components including switches, electronic instruments, PLCs, data loggers, relays, breakers, and other instrumentation used in the manufacture and repair of electrical power equipment.
- Position, align, or adjust mechanical work pieces or electrical parts to facilitate wiring or assembly.
- Perform basic wiring functions.
- Assemble and install wiring racks and electrical bus bars as required.
- Adjust, repair, or replace electrical, electronic, and mechanical component parts to correct defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
- Perform basic troubleshooting duties, diagnose causes of electrical or mechanical malfunction, and make necessary repairs.
- Determine reparability and cost to repair equipment, refurbish equipment, and replace defective parts.
- Perform installations compliant with current electrical codes, customer specifications, and IE standard procedures and quality control procedures.
- Responsible for assigned project completion, quality, and delivery according to the work schedule.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience working on industrial electrical distribution equipment or a similar industry preferred.
- Ability to read and understand basic wiring schematics and layout diagrams.
- Experience with various hand tools, crimpers, wire strippers, drills, and electrical testing equipment (DVOM) preferred.
- Lift up to 75 lbs.; push/pull up to 100 lbs.
- Capable of standing and walking for an extended period of time.
- Self‑motivated and capable of working in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Confident in working closely with other technicians and management while keeping production flowing and meeting due dates.
- Demonstrated proficiency in achieving high‑quality results in electrical and mechanical assemblies, troubleshooting through continual attention to detail and anticipation of potential problems.
- Detail‑oriented and committed to producing quality work.
- Must be able to get along with co‑workers, supervisors, management, etc.
- Able to work multiple tasks and varied job duties as assigned.
