Under the guidance of the Executive Director, the Communications Officer will support and execute NITHA's communication strategies. This role works collaboratively with the NITHA team to ensure effective communication with the NITHA Partnership and external stakeholders. The Communications Officer will plan, develop, and implement communication, marketing, and public relations initiatives for both internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse traditions, with an emphasis on working effectively with Indigenous communities.

This position is based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.

Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in internal and corporate communications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience in strategic communications, marketing, and public relations.
  • Experience creating and managing visual materials for print, digital, and online media, including logos, brochures, websites, and social media graphics.
  • Skilled in producing clear, audience-focused materials such as briefing notes, reports, and presentations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with diplomacy, judgment, and tact.
  • High level of confidentiality and cultural sensitivity.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Windows, Adobe Professional, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working with Indigenous audiences and strong cultural competency are assets.
  • Experience with in a First Nations organization and/or ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 drivers license and willingness to travel as required.
